KE Learning Center

More than a school

In 2021, we first met the families living on the Nakuru town dump site. Each day the more than 1,000 people living there pick through the trash deliveries for food they can eat and items they can use or sell. So far we have been able to bring fresh water, hot meals, food distribution like cabbages and unga (flour), the first toilets in the community, and the first solar lights to homes, pathways, and public areas. Together we are making Gioto a safer place to live for the children growing up there.

Our latest project has been birthed through a series of miracles. KE Learning Center is now here! We were given a letter of authorization by the Chief to begin with Pre-Primary 1 and 2 classes and offered a building in Gioto by the local Chairman and the District Council in which to operate the school. Our teachers, Moses and Jemimah, daily teach the children and inspire them to greatness. Our next step is to remodel an adjacent building in order to expand the school to include grades 1 and 2. Our expected costs for this expansion to include materials, labor, furnishings, and supplies is $6-7,000.
